Lodging Efficiency Workshops

Videos of two lodging efficiency workshops recently held in Glenwood Springs are available at  http://www.grassrootstv.org/search.aspx?term=efficiency&type=full . The first workshop provides lodging managers with a snapshot of national consumer trends and customer expectations, while the second offers specific approaches to reduce energy costs. Garfield Clean Energy, a collaborative effort among nine local government partners in Garfield County and the nonprofit CLEER, hosted the workshops.

Seven Businesses Complete Main Street Efficiency Projects

Local businesses took advantage of a program from the Governor's Energy Office and offered through BEDA to improve their energy efficiency. The businesses received energy audits from Mountain Parks Electric and/or Xcel Energy and then made upgrades to their facilities to cut energy use. Power to the People, Simply Efficient, Alex Meyer and Omega Electric are local contractors who provided lighting upgrades to the businesses. The program netted approximately $ 7200 in rebates for the businesses.

Energy Audit Equipment Loan Program

On December first, eight Grand County based contractors will take part in a “hands on” training session with BEDA’s infrared camera and blower door equipment. The training is a collaborative effort between Dave Clingman of Imagin3 LLC and BEDA. BEDA anticipates offering additional classes in 2012. Contractors who complete the class will be eligible to “check out” the equipment to perform blower door assisted air sealing and other tasks. If you are interested in attending a training please email energy@gcbeda.com.
